Woman Pays $1,500 To Get Her 'Ugly' Cat Plastic Surgery

Plenty of people will pay big bucks for plastic surgery to fix a flaw on their body, but when it comes to their pets, the flaws are what make those animals unique and are accepted as such. However, one woman in China felt otherwise and was willing to go to great lengths to change the shape of her cat's eyes, which she thought were "ugly." She was able to find a veterinarian who would perform plastic surgery on her pet, and paid $1,500 for the procedure. A news show reported on the operation, called an Asian blepharoplasty, explaining how cuts are made on the cat's eyelids to give the eyes a different shape. After the story aired, people called for the pet owner to be charged with animal abuse.

Photos of the cat in the newscast showed its fur had been shaved off its face and its eyes were swollen with stitches. The veterinarian who performed the operation at the Rupeng Pet Hospital claims the procedure is common, with many dog owners opting for it so their pets can participate in shows. However, they also admitted that there is a health risk with it and it can cause discomfort.

No word on if the woman is happy with the results of the surgery.
