Will Ferrell Hilariously Kicks Off the 2020 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards

In true Ron Burgundy fashion, Will Ferrell kicked things off at the second annual iHeartRadio Podcast Awards at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles on Friday, January 17.

The funnyman, who is behind iHeartRadio’s “The Ron Burgundy Podcast,” poked fun by waking up the house in Burbank, California.

“Hello Burbank! Yes!,” he shouted to the audience and also to viewers who tuned in via the livestream on LiveXLive.com. “Let’s hear it for Burbank! Woo!”

The actor continued that he’s always wanted to work in podcasting and joked that he’s behind the creation of the internet, audio streaming and Apple.

He then encouraged the vast amount of nominees across the biggest and most innovative podcasts in all 30 categories in the audience to “pay respect to all of our sponsors.”

“It’s going to be the length of a 60-second ad so get comfortable,” he jokingly concluded.

Ferrell recently teamed up with iHeartMedia to launch a new podcast company called Big Money Players Network. The Big Money Players Network will recruit top comedic talent and put together comedy podcasts in a variety of styles, including both scripted and unscripted, and is set to launch 10 podcasts over the next 24 months, all produced by Ferrell and iHeartMedia (the No. 1 commercial podcast publisher globally). Fans can look out for the new shows to roll out in 2020, and listen via iHeartRadio and everywhere else podcasts are heard.
